FIRST DEPARTMENT OF PROPAEDEUTIC AND INTERNAL MEDICINE
If deemed necessary, the treatment of patients is carried out at the First Department of Propaedeutic and Internal Medicine (APPK) of the University General Hospital of Athens (GHA) “Laiko” and the follow-up is done by the doctors of the Center. The Department was completely renovated and in January 2008. It has 38 beds in double and triple rooms, all with toilets, to provide proper treatment conditions.
In case the patient is evaluated in the emergency department by physicinas of a different clinic than the one mentioned above and needs admission, he is admitted to the clinic on duty and transferred to the APPK whenever possible depending on the availability of nursing beds.
In case of side effects from the treatment or any acute event, patients can contact the emergency department of GHA “Laiko” or the office of physicians of APPK.
Patients are evaluated in the emergency department, undergo the required laboratory and imaging tests and, if required, are admitted to the APPK in order to receive the appropriate treatment.
In order to ensure the proper treatment of patients with NET even if they turn to physicians other than the physicians of the Center, all patients receive a medical note about their medical history which is regularly updated and should present it during their visits to any medical center.
